“As to Jean Valjean, there was indeed within him all manner of tenderness and all manner of solicitude, but he was only an old man who knew nothing at all”(Hugo 247).
This quote shows how Jean Valjean is like every other human and has feelings. He is becoming much warmer and beginning to have a heart. Cosette changed him by actually caring for Jean. Jean Valjean is changing slowly but steady because he cares so much for Cosette.
