Les Miserables by Victor
Hugo was one of the best books we have read in Tech Prep 12 this year. The book
itself had a great meaning to the wonderful opportunities that life tries to
offer you. Les Miserables is about a prisoner that has been in jail for
nine-teen years of his life. Once he is let out he goes back to his old ways
and ends up in trouble. He moves from town to town changing his identity every
time so people won’t recognize him. He encounters a sick worker which has a
beautiful daughter named Cosette. She asks him if he could find her and bring
her back to her before she passes away. Not mentioning that a cop named Javert
is trying to find him to put him behind bars. After he finds her of course her
mother is dead so now he has to take care of. Well he doesn’t have to but he
falls in love with this little girl and adopts her as his daughter because all
the happiness she has brought into his life. In discussions we argued different
positions on weather if people are born evil or good. We also had to make a
dialectical journal for this book. The dialectical journal was a journal where
we would pick a character and find quotes that they have said throughout the
book. Them we would analyze and paraphrase each quote that was found.
